Paper Wardrobe

Paper, cardboard and papier-mâch�� are familiar to all of us. They bring back memories of kinder-garden and our first experiences of making things. Later, whilst at the academy, I experimented with making products out of paper and cardboard. I created a series of cradles out of old boxes that I glued together, initially due to a lack of money and ease, but then out of fascination. Studio Job to create a collection of paper furniture for the general public. Inspired by classic icons but manufactured like modern day furniture, this collection is an ode to classical style and to the material. Monumental and light, transitory and timeless.

lock_away

The lock_away wardrobe follows the the same principle as the shelf unit build_and_file. Additionally its side panels and doors snapping into the milled slits in the bottom and roof panels. You can hang on to it and use the extended rail to hang your clothes inside and outside.

These 36e8 kitchen "non-kitchen" suites are incredibly attractive, not only in their stunning colours and sleek surfaces, but also in their versatility: The Lago storage units can be positioned horizontally or vertically and can be combined in a variety of ways to create your perfect kitchen. For example, you can stack the units like building blocks to produce forms such as trees, lobsters, etc! Workshelter

Workshelter defines a place of retreat for deliberation, concentration and solitary work. Workshelter's worktop is screened by two felt-lined walls which isolate the user both visibly and physically. The felt lining is acoustically effective and not only protects the workstation within Workshelter from extraneous noise but also increases the sound absorption surface in the room. Workshelter, an important element of the Net 'n' Nest concept, can be rearranged at any time.

Bent bench

Bent, by the young designers Christophe de la Fontaine and Stefan Diez, is an addition to the Moroso collection for outdoors. It is a range of highly coloured tables and chairs in powder-coated aluminium with a clear reference to an industrial and graphic idiom made up of faceting, three and six-pointed geometric shapes and functional punched holes that allow the aluminium sheet to bend and form 3D objects of actual utility, from chairs to tables. The Bent collection is available in the range of warm colours from yellow to red.

designed by committee in 2007. the bamboo lamp is a subtle hybrid of organic, shapely bamboo with a sharp, minimal silhouette and a high gloss finish. its natural curves blend with stylized curves to make a simple standard lamp which surprises with its quietly contradictory materials. a unique pull switch handle, plucked from somewhere in the world, now dangles like an earring beneath the bold, gathered shade, gently reminding us of the absurd and providing us with an invitation to perhaps untie the knot and replace it with an object of our own choice. every pull-cord from the bamboo lamp is totally unique! bamboo lamp is made of bamboo stand, metal base and cotton stretched around metal frame. uses a 1xE26 light bulb max. 100W. bulb not included.

This new form of chandelier is a series of lampshades and not a structure allowing many possible variations and changes. One can combine several types and sizes to accumulate a desired effect. This allows much choice both for initial color combinations as well as eventual desires to modify color choices after time. Mon Cirque is Hayon's vision of a large oniric metaphor. A place that symbolizes his hope of artistic freedom, where the designer's work is free to transcend the frontiers built between design and art. The classical colorfulness of the circus is replaced by a more serious and elegant contrast between black, white and gold: Cirque de lux.Vases become characters, clowns become lamps, plates used as canvas, tables grow legs. A sophisticated ambient replaces the decadent circus. A new world has been born: Mon Cirque. Craftsmanship is a key element to Mon Cirque. Avoiding the use of molds, a return to the hand made object where each piece is unique in its existence, like the characters they represent.

The chicken, a rather unexplored shape, found its place amongst my green dreams. I wanted to portray this common bird as a sensational object by amplifying its characteristics and dimensions, turning it into a modern piece, one of great beauty and utility: a rocking chair. The movement, subtle and constant, would give the object a zoom-like trait, a sense of speed and dynamism. My green chicken had taken on a face, a shape, a place and a function.

The Mediterranean Digital Baroque exhibit opened at the David Gill Galleries in London in October 2003. The exhibit featured creatures that sign and defend the root of creation. The house. The head. Full of fake and plastic characters. Adult games. A virgin army defended by supersonic pigs. Engulfed in a metamorphic fragile traditional ceramic forest. A vital and ironic manifesto about this artist's personal comogony that is devised of mature languages from heterogenic worlds: his birthplace, Madrid and the Francophone culture from his childhood. Skateboarding from �cani?suburbs and baja California. Gestuality, surrealism, barroque, density, dynamism, intuition, dementia, risk, tenderness, berreber, mathematical warrior of nature, energetic strangth, delirium, hestrionic exaggeration, emulation and creativity.

Kubo-Kube, a cabinet within a cabinet, is a fusion piece of contemporary furniture. It is a hybrid between a cabinet and an exhibitor that presents the magic of what is shown and what is concealed. Things can be displayed or stored inside and out, revealing the difference of texture on objects exposed and those behind the glass shell. The idea for the Halo mirror parts from magic as well. Perhaps a more mystical magic: the sacred moment of being in front of the Sun. Its classically-organic frame contrasted with the digital space-like effect of the degraded reflexion, brings to life a memorable piece to experience.

Stage Stage is a window into Jaime Hayon's world. It evidences the relevance of how experimentation and artistic research have been the platform for the work of this creator. Perhaps a recepy for new creative development in the present, Hayon has found a language that steps aside the dividing borders between art and design. Jaime Hayon's Stage is a journey of the artist/designer's professional path. It wishes to recover the relevance of process by showing a variety of his works. Constant evolution is part of the nature of this exhibit. As new work progreses, it becomes a new stage? Stage was first shown at the Aram Gallery, London, in september 2006. Stage Rotterdam will open its doors at the Vivid Gallery (Rotterdam) on January 14th until March 4.

Stylized, yet almost alive with shapes that combine the organic with minimal and colors that had never before seen in a bathroom. "I didn' want to approach AQ as a bathroom collection. Everything is so white, so clinical. And it's a room hidden from everyone. Why not treat it as furniture? And make a piece that can be used in any room of the house? So I introduced more explosive colors and unusual shapes that were both modern and classic?
